In this week’s post, I wanted to remind readers that Case Management Week will take place from October 12th to 18th this year.
While the official celebration runs from October 12 to 18th, the Case Management Society of America is recognizing case managers all month long with free and educational events, CE opportunities, valuable resources, networking events, prizes, and more for all case managers. The theme this year is Innovate. Advocate. Celebrate Case Management! I will be participating throughout the month, and I hope you will join me!
Case Management Week is the time for you to share what you do and the achievements you accomplish every day. Don’t be shy – each of you must make your value known to the people (patients, their family members, employers, claims adjusters, and all members of the healthcare team, Payers and Providers).
Your role is crucial in ensuring care is coordinated, transitions are safe, and those able to return to work do so safely. For those unable to return or are injured or chronically ill, YOU are an advocate in the complex healthcare system. You help people find the resources they need to reach their full potential within their limitations.
No other member of the healthcare team does what you do. You have insight into the medical, social, and psychological needs of your patients, and work with them as they travel on their journey to ensure they are educated and safe.
I hope you and your team take the time to recognize the important work and impact you make every day as case managers by celebrating National Case Managers Week/Month. You are a lifeline to many!
