Over the weekend, I had time to sit down and read a book a colleague of mine Mary Ellen Gervasis, recently published. The book is titled: The Role of Love in Building and Sustaining a Business. In her book, Mary Ellen talks about a company, InforMed, that she was instrumental in creating.
The book presents a perspective of a medical management company’s success from 2002 through 2012. The success of the company, was based on the concept of love which is reflected in dedication to vision and mission; a commitment to the core of our business; and commitment to the team delivering the service.
Mary Ellen walks readers through how ‘Love’ was part of the building blocks that helped the Founders, the leadership team and each worker, create a culture that set the tone for how all who worked within the organization. The clients who purchased their services also ‘felt’ the love and realized that this was a company they could trust.
If you are a business owner or thinking of starting a business; this is a book that you should read. It will help you realize what is important. It answer the question; why am I doing this when things get tough and you are ready to give up.
If you are an employee, and looking for a company to join; this book can give you tips on what you want to look for on your journey so you can work up to your true potential. We all work too many hours not to find work that gives us purpose and fulfills us.
