In this week’s post, I wanted to share some things that make this time of the year memorable for me. Tis the Season!
One of my favorite things to do this time of the year is to write Christmas cards to family and friends – especially those I don’t see or talk to often. It is a time to reconnect and share what is happening in my life with friends and family. I also like getting cards from family and friends. I love it when there is a note with the card, as it lets the person writing catch me up on how they are doing. It often spurs a call, and just like that, we are back where we started….laughing and remembering the good times.
I appreciate getting handwritten cards as they are so rare in today’s fast-paced and electronic world. It tells me that the person cares enough to spend the time to get the cards, write them out, and send one to me! My cards become part of our decorations each year!
Another thing I like to do is decorate our house with ornaments and collectibles that we have gotten throughout our lives. When we travel, I always try to pick up a special trinket. This is the time of the year I get to display. Even if my husband and I are the only ones who see them – it is fun to remember where we were and the memories that come from looking back on our vacations.
Doing something special for someone is part of the season. I have not done anything for anyone lately and miss this a lot. I have to take some time this week to think about this! After all, isn’t this what the season is about?
Another fun thing I like to do this time of the year is to take a walk or a drive through neighborhoods around our area and see the light displays in various neighborhoods.
I hope you are taking time to enjoy the holidays – they come and go so fast! So, make sure you take some time over the next few weeks to enjoy the season!
Have a good week!
Anne I agree that getting a hand written card is a wonderful gift! There’s an amazing organization called LAI (letters against isolation) that sends cards all over the world to seniors who don’t get out much. It was started by 2 young women (sisters) in their kitchen and has evolved to where thousands of cards have been sent to brighten up the lives of so many! Check it out!
Hi Ann, I wish you an unforgettable Merry christmas and a Happy New Year!
Sincerely,
Luisa
Happy Holidays Anne!
Thank you for your leadership these past years! I appreciate these newsletters as I know the time and effort it takes.
Take care,
